Daniel Cormier advises Dana White not to give up on Khabib: 'He's the man'

Personal friend of the lightweight champion, commentator says that 'boss' should not lose hope for the return of the Russian legend

Personal friend of Khabib Nurmagomedov, Daniel Cormier knows Russian like few others outside the Octagon. Former Ultimate champion and now commentator, the North American once again spoke about Dana White's insistence on convincing the Russian to return to MMA. This time, DC approved the 'big boss' advances and stated that the leader should not give up on the lightweight champion (up to 70,3kg).

“I wouldn't stop (if I were Dana). I would schedule 10 meetings (with Khabib). Every time he agreed to a meeting, I would continue talking, trying to convince him”, said Cormier, on the program 'DC & Hewlani'.

To justify the commotion over the – until then – utopian return of the Russian, Daniel tried to talk about performance. For the commentator, the outcome of the UFC 254, when Khabib undisputed the belt in an undisputed way, speaks for itself.

“He 'just' mastered a dangerous Justin gaethje. So, he's the guy. That's why it is absolute. That’s why Dana White keeps asking him to fight again.”

A living legend of MMA, Khabib made his retirement official while still in the octagon, in October 2020. The athlete justified his action with the death of his father, Abdulmanap (in July last year) and a promise he made to his mother, confirming that he would no longer compete .
