Corey Anderson says he doesn't know his opponent at the Bellator GP: 'I had to Google it'

Confirmed in the light heavyweight Grand Prix, fighters will face each other on April 9

After beating Melvin Manhoef at Bellator 251, Corey anderson You already know what your next step will be in the organization. The fighter was confirmed in Grand Prix light heavyweight (up to 93 kg.) and faces Turkmen Dovletdzhan Yagshimuradov, who makes his debut in the franchise, on April 9th. In a moment of sincerity, the American confesses that he didn't know his next opponent and admits that he had to search on Google to study him.

“I had to do a quick Google search. Firstly, I needed to make sure my manager spelled his name correctly because I thought he was sending me a bunch of random letters. And when I put it on (Google), it actually showed up. I was like, ‘Wait. This is a person’s name’. After doing my research, I realized that I can't ignore this guy because I didn't know him,” he confesses. Corey anderson, in a press conference at the event.

Despite confessing that he didn't know Yagshimuradov, the American tried to praise his opponent.

“This guy really has a really good style and track record. I did my research. He’s a big name where he comes from and just because we didn’t know him doesn’t mean anything.”

At 31, Corey anderson He has a record of 14 wins and five losses in his career. Before signing with Bellator, he was in the Top-5 of the UFC light heavyweight division. Dovletdzhan Yagshimuradov has a record of 18 wins, five setbacks and one draw.
