Experiencing an unprecedented moment in his career, with two consecutive defeats, Tony Ferguson needs a fresh start in the UFC. To get back on the path to victory, the veteran suggested a clash against Nate diaz, who can return to light weight (up to 70,3kg.) in his next appointment. Responding to a 'bad-boy' post on Twitter, the 'Bicho Papão' went straight to the challenge.

“All you do is talk. You don't want to face a real fighter. 77kg. or 70kg.”, wrote Ferguson.
Former interim lightweight champion, Tony has not won a fight since his triumph over Donald Cerrone, in June 2019. Last season, 'Bicho Papão' ended up losing an unbeaten run of 12 fights, when he was overcome by Justin gaethje, UFC 249.
After the setback to Justin, Ferguson once again failed to commit to Charles of the Bronx, in December 2020. At the time, the North American was largely dominated by the Brazilian and ended up temporarily withdrawing from a future title fight.
Although he offered to face Diaz at lightweight or welterweight, it is possible that Nate will test himself again in the under-70,3kg group. The information that the 'bad boy' could move down a division was released by the president of Ultimate, Dana White, who admitted to negotiating a confrontation for the athlete.
Nate has not competed in an official fight since 2019. On that occasion, the North American was defeated by Jorge masvidal No. UFC 244. The show was one of the most acclaimed of that season.
