Former UFC heavyweight champion (up to 120,2kg) and new PFL signing (Professional Fighters League), Fabricio Werdum showed excitement about the migration of Jon Jones for the division up to 120kg. In an interview with 'sherdog', the gaucho admitted his desire to hold a superfight against the MMA legend, suggested a 'cross-event' (UFC x PFL) and guaranteed that he would overcome 'Bones' in an eventual confrontation.

“I believe Jones will be the future UFC heavyweight champion. If I win the PFL Grand Prix, it would be amazing to finally face him and a super fight in a 'crossover event'. I have no doubt that, if I faced Jones in the same physical shape as I faced (Alexander) Gustafsson (in July 2020), I would submit him on the ground”, said 'Vai Cavalo'.

UFC champion between 2015 and 2016, Werdum said goodbye to his 'old home' after beating Gustafsson. At the time, the gaucho was having his last fight under his contract and, after the triumph, both parties opted for non-renewal.

Months later, after conversations with Bellator and ONE Championship, Fabrício chose to put on PFL gloves. The Gaucho's intention is to win the heavyweight tournament, which gives the champion a prize of US$1 million (around R$5,3 million).

While Werdum challenges Jones, the American continues preparing for his long-awaited debut in one of the most dangerous categories in the sport. Absolute light heavyweight champion for 10 years, there is still no forecast for 'Bones' debut in the group. The expectation is that the legend will compete for the title against the winner between Stipe Miocic e Francis Ngannou, which exchange forces in the UFC 260, on March 27.

At 43 years old, Werdum now has 34 fights as a professional in MMA. The veteran has 24 wins, nine losses and one draw.
