Former champion of the PFL (Professional Fighters League) tournament, Philip Lins has not yet taken off in the UFC. Without winning in the organization and coming off two consecutive defeats, the athlete will have another chance to prove that he is capable of performing on equal terms in the heavyweight division (up to 120,2kg) of Ultimate. According to 'Combate', the potiguar will exchange forces against veteran Ben Rothwell in an event confirmed for March 13, with no defined location.

At 35 years old, Lins arrived at the UFC as a promise for Brazilian renewal in the category led by Stipe Miocic. The athlete, however, was unable to show his full potential and ended up being surpassed in his debut, in 2020, by the former group champion, Andrei Arlovski. A month later, the Brazilian returned to the octagon, but ended up being defeated by Tanner Boser.

In Ultimate since 2010 and with 15 fights for the company, Rothwell will try to recover from the defeat he suffered in his last challenge. In October 2020, the North American lost to Marcin tybura and a sequence of two positive results ended.

The confrontation between Philipe and Ben could mean goodbye to the UFC for one of them. If he loses, Lins will complete three consecutive setbacks and could join the dreaded layoff list that has been haunting athletes since the end of last season. Rothwell, in turn, will complete five negative results in the last 10 appearances.

The show on March 13th will also mark the long-awaited meeting between Leon edwards and the new Ultimate pupil, Kahmzat Chimaev. The winner of the clash will put themselves in a great position for a future fight for the welterweight (under 77kg) belt.
