Nightmare for Amanda ribas. In the fight that opened the preliminary card of the UFC 257, held this Saturday (23), in Abu Dhabi, Marina Rodriguez surprised and brutalized the Minas Gerais native with a knockout in the second round. A dark horse in the bookmakers, the gaucho took a big step towards the top 5 in the strawweight division (up to 52,1kg).

With the biggest victory of her career, Rodriguez ends an undefeated streak of four fights and Amanda's good run in the organization. Brazilian promise in the category dominated by Weili Zhang, the woman from Rio Grande do Sul was very emotional after the result.
“Now, you know who I am,” said the fighter, in the interview still in the octagon.
The setback for Marina marked the second defeat in Amanda's career, as she hasn't lost since 2015. Now, the fighter will need to recover to get back on the path to victory and continue her dream of becoming champion in the company.
The fight
The confrontation began with Rodriguez taking the initiative with a low kick. Ribas responded with a left cross, which went empty. The Minas Gerais native continued 'chasing' her opponent around the Octagon, and Marina was betting on counterattacks. Halfway through the round, the gaucho surprised Amanda with a right cross to the face. After being attacked, Ribas closed the distance and managed to take her opponent to the ground. The Minas Gerais native continued to dominate on top and threw punches to her opponent's face and ribs. Near the final minute, Ribas began to put pressure on his opponent's neck, but Rodriguez managed to free himself from the hold. The robbery ended with Amanda on top, but without much action.
In the second stage, Marina took the initiative again, with two crosses in a row. Amanda ended up surprised by a new cross and collapsed. Rodriguez continued hitting the miner, who was wobbly. After punishing her compatriot with a series of punches, the referee interrupted the confrontation.
Calderwood overcomes Jessica Eye and advances in flyweight

In the confrontation held before the co-main fight, Joanne calderwood e Jessica Eye promoted one of the most exciting duels of the night. Valid for flyweight (up to 56,7kg.), Calderwood showed more game volume and won the unanimous decision of the judges.
With the result, Joanne recovered from the defeat suffered by Jennifer maia, in August 2020. At the time, after being beaten by the Brazilian, Calderwood ended up losing the opportunity to face the group champion, Valentina Shevchenko. Now, the athlete is approaching a new chance to face the Kyrgyzstani.
Former challenger for the category title, Eye ended up getting into trouble in the organization. The setback for Calderwood marked Jessica's third negative result in the last five appearances. The athlete has the 'warning signal on'.
Muradov runs over Sanchez and maintains unbeaten record

In a clash valid for middleweight (up to 83,9kg.), Makhmud Muradov confirmed the good phase and defeated Andrew Sanchez in the second fight on the main card. Promising for the category, the athlete from Uzbekistan left the Octagon with yet another brutal knockout on his record. The outcome came in the third round.
With the result, Muradov achieved his 14th victory in a row and third with UFC gloves. Now, Makhmud has 25 triumphs and six setbacks as a professional in MMA.
Although he showed spirit in the duel, Sanchez was unable to obtain the second positive result in a row. The athlete had beaten the Brazilian Wellington Turman I your last challenge, in August 2020.
