Nate Marquardt shows bruises on his thigh after losing Strikeforce belt

Nate Leg 1Veteran Nate Marquardt was surprised in the main fight of Strikeforce's farewell event, held last Saturday (12), in the city of Oklahoma, in the United States. Against the Belgian Tarec saffiedine, the American suffered from hard kicks to the leg in 25 minutes of combat and lost the show welterweight belt. With his right thigh badly injured, Marquardt showed the “damage” done by his opponent in photos published on Twitter.

“The swelling went down last night, believe it or not,” Nate wrote on the microblog. “I want to thank my sponsors, my team and everyone who supported me. It wasn't my night, but I'll come back even stronger”, added the American.

Marquardt has an MMA record of 32 wins, 11 losses and two draws. Before becoming champion of the Strikeforce welterweight category (up to 77 kg.), he played in the UFC between 2005 and 2011, where he came to challenge the Brazilian Anderson Silva for the middleweight belt (up to 84 kg.) at UFC 73, in 2007
