Former Bellator, Michael Chandler chooses the challenge of winning in the UFC as the toughest of his career

Former competition star, North American praises the Ultimate squad and says he is ready for commitments; athlete debuts against Dan Hooker in the co-main fight of UFC 257

Just a few days before his long-awaited Ultimate debut, Michael chandler does not hide his excitement about joining the company. One of the protagonists of UFC 257, which takes place this Saturday (23), in Abu Dhabi, the North American spoke about the expectation of testing himself against big names in the lightweight category (up to 70,3kg) of world MMA.

“This is the toughest competition I have ever faced in my career. But when you look at my track record, guys like Eddie Alvarez, Ben henderson – champions who were here, in the UFC -, I have been competing at a high level since I was 14 years old. I have been dreaming and visualizing this day in case it comes true. Now, I’m ready to take the opportunity”, said the athlete, in a press conference held this Thursday morning (21).

Former Bellator champion and one of the biggest names in the organization's history, Chandler knows he won't have an easy life from the moment he steps into the Octagon. In his first appointment, the North American will have the task of facing the dangerous Dan Hooker. In case of victory, Michael will be one step away from the top 5, where everyone is in a position to compete for the belt that belongs to Khabib Nurmagomedov.

“All these guys are the best in the world. The UFC lightweight is the most famous, electrifying, energetic fighter in the company today. It’s the perfect time to put my name out there,” he concluded.

At 34 years old, Chandler currently has 26 commitments as a professional in MMA. His last performance came in August 2020, when he brutalized Ben Hendersson in his farewell to Bellator.
