“It’s going to be a great fight with two big names. Two gigantic guys. But I think that every guy who fights with Conor McGregor Whatever comes from the beating, he (McGregor) stands out. He has a very good head, he gets into the mind. In the first fight (between Conor and Dustin, in 2014), he got into Poirier's head”, said the Brazilian.

As the São Paulo native stated, this will be the second meeting between the Irishman and the North American. In the first clash, more than six years ago, McGregor won the duel by knocking out his rival in the first round. At the time, the athletes were still performing in the featherweight category (up to 65,7kg).

For Do Bronx, Poirier could fall into the same trap as UFC 178, when he lost to the 'Notório'. According to Charles, if Dustin opts for a straight fight and doesn't mix up his attacks, the knockout will be a matter of time.

Ultimate president Dana White has already confirmed that the winner of the match will compete for the title. It remains to be seen whether the fight will be against the current champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov, who has remained retired since October 2020.

On his last engagement, Charles ran over the dreaded Tony Ferguson and secured a prominent place in the group led by Khabib. Now, the athlete awaits the outcome of the division, which should be decided in the coming weeks.
