“I don't really like it (Jones at heavyweight). When you have a guy like Francis Ngannou at heavyweight, I don't know. I don't see an easy path to Jon Jones. Or he has to face Stipe (Miocic). If Stipe beats Ngannou, he will face Jones, but I don't think that will happen. I think Ngannou will beat Stipe and face Jon and I don’t like this fight”, said the Niteroi native, on his channel on YouTube.

“I don't like the 'what if...' but what if Jones faces Francis and gets knocked out badly? And there? What Jon Jones will do? Firstly, when you are undefeated and you lose, it is very difficult. You are the undefeated champion and you lose badly. I don't know how this will affect him mentally. I don’t know about his future,” Gilbert said.

Finally, the Brazilian gave his opinion on what 'Bones' should have done, instead of testing himself in one of the most dangerous categories in the UFC. For the Niteroi native, contrary to what Jon always says, there were more challenges to be faced at light heavyweight (up to 93kg).

“I think he had some guys to beat in the 93kg division. In my opinion, he should face (Israel) Adesanya. Stay at 93kg, hit Jan Blachowicz and defeat (Thiago) Santos (Marreta) again”, he concluded.

Jones confirmed his move to heavyweight in August 2020. At the time, the American gave up his belt in the light heavyweight division. There is still no prediction about when the fighter will debut in the new group.
