One of the protagonists of UFC 256, held last Saturday (12), Tony Ferguson manifested itself after the harsh defeat suffered by Charles of the Bronx, in the co-main fight. Dominated by the Brazilian for 15 minutes, the North American used social media to reflect on the bad moment and sent a special message to his critics.

"There is no excuse. I felt smooth. I tried to attack, instead of defending myself. The heating behind the scenes has not been the same as before Covid-19. Still, no excuses. Time changes, just like people. The moments at the UFC Apex hotel (where Ultimate fights have been held in the United States) are more condensed and the level of aggression we needed was not achieved. It’s my fault”, wrote the fighter on his Instagram account.

Ferguson also gave an update on the condition of his arm. In the final seconds of the first round, Charles managed to lock in a tight armbar, which narrowly missed breaking the North American's arm. Showing impressive resistance, Tony refused to give up and ended up saved by the bell.

“Everything is fine with my arm. The key was really tight. My son and my ability to ignore the pain got me through this. Breathing and mental toughness,” she revealed.

Finally, 'Bicho Papão' sent a message to his critics. With two consecutive defeats, after spending 12 fights without knowing what it's like to lose, Ferguson rules out any possibility of retirement. At 36 years old, the North American guarantees that he will continue in the sport and follow his dream of winning the linear belt in the lightweight category (up to 70,3 kg.).

“I am grateful for my talents. I've learned a lot about myself this year and my life goals. My quest for 'greatness' is not over. Understand, we are a long way from retiring. So, this message is for the critics”, he concluded.
