Former UFC heavyweight champion (up to 120,2kg), junior gypsy disappointed again. In the fight that opened the main card of UFC 256, held this Saturday (12), in Las Vegas (12), the Brazilian ended up being surpassed by Cyryl Gane with a knockout in the second round, he suffered his fourth consecutive defeat and became complicated in the organization once and for all.

This weekend, Cigano, who led the category between 2011 and 2012, needed a positive result to prove that he is still capable of performing at a high level. However, the Santa Catarina native showed little of the fighter who once held the group's belt.
With the triumph over the Brazilian, Gane confirms himself as a serious candidate for a title fight in the future. In addition to beating number seven in the rankings, the Frenchman confirmed his unbeaten record in his career.
After the duel, there was a brief discussion between the athletes. The former champion complained that one of the attacks launched by his opponent – which was instrumental in the knockout – had been connected to the back of the head. Even so, the official announcement confirmed Ciryl as the winner.
The fight
Gane took the initiative in the confrontation with a low kick and a direct kick. The Brazilian looked for his rival's legs, but Ciryl managed to free himself. The Frenchman attacked again with a kick and the Santa Catarina native responded with a direct shot. Cigano surprised his rival with two punches, which forced his opponent to walk backwards. Ciryl showed danger with a high kick, but the former champion continued to move forward. The Frenchman once again scared Júnior with a high kick and a combination of kicks to the Santa Catarina native's left leg. In the final minute, Ciryl continued to keep Cigano at bay with kicks, but the Brazilian connected with two right crosses and there was no more time.
In the second stage, the Frenchman continued to focus on kicks. Cigano remained with his right hand cocked, waiting for the best moment to unleash a blow. After two minutes, Gane sought the clinch, but Júnior managed to free himself. Gane's kicks seemed to bother the Brazilian. Close to the middle of the round, the Frenchman landed a jab squarely on the Brazilian's face, who was shaken. Afterwards, Ciryl went up and made the former champion collapse. After a combination of punches, the referee stopped the fight.
