Making history by becoming the company's first fighter to defend his title in less than a month, Deiveson wants to continue promoting the flyweight category (up to 56,7kg) which, a few years ago, was close to being extinct. To remain on the throne, the combatant will have to overcome the number one in the ranking, who also appeared 20 days ago.

On the main card, Brazilian fans will also cheer for Ronaldo Jacare, who returns to middleweight and faces Kevin holland; junior gypsy, who tries to get away from the bad phase against the promising Cyryl Gane and the Brazilian duel between Mackenzie dern e Virna jandiroba.

In the preliminary, Renato Moicano will seek to continue his successful journey at lightweight. The athlete will exchange forces with Raphael Fiziev, in the fourth performance of the night. To get in the mood, our team selected five reasons to follow the UFC 256. Check out:

1) Deiveson, flyweight savior

For many, Henry Cejudo He was the man who put flyweight back on the UFC's radar. The North American did a lot, there is no doubt. But, after the ‘Triple C’ moved to the bantamweight division (up to 61,2kg.), and subsequently retired, Deiveson assumed the role of leader and has led the division in his own way.

This weekend, the fighter is already cemented in the organization's history. After defending his position in the UFC 255, on the 21st, the Brazilian took on the challenge of returning to the octagon 20 days after beating Alex Perez.

Now, the ‘God of War’ will face the number one ranking, Brandon Moreno. A new favorite of Dana White, who has, in each interview, declared his admiration for the aggressiveness and determination of the Pará native, Figueiredo needs to win to remain absolute in the group that was close to being extinct a few years ago.

2) From the Bronx: the ‘fight of life’

One of the main Brazilian bets on lightweight (up to 70,3kg.), Charles of the Bronx He asked for so much from a strong opponent, which, finally, was answered by Ultimate. At the UFC 256, the Brazilian, who occupies sixth place in the category ranking, will be placed face to face with the former interim champion of the category, Tony Ferguson.

Undefeated in seven challenges, the São Paulo native will need to prove that he is capable of facing on equal terms an athlete who, for years, has haunted the category with his aggressive and dangerous style.

Even coming from a defeat to Justin gaethje, Ferguson remains one of the favorites to take over the post that could be left by Khabib Nurmagomedov in the near future, as the current champion remains firm in his decision to leave the sport after the tragic death of his father – victim of complications from Covid-19 – in July.

Charles, today, is ranked sixth in the division and hasn't known what it's like to lose a fight since December 2017. Now, the fighter will have the chance to reach the top 5 once and for all and, if he wins, he will be in a prominent position for a future fight for Khabib's belt.

3) Brazilian duel in Las Vegas

Born in the United States, but with strong Brazilian roots, Mackenzie dern has already revealed that she likes to be considered a Tupiniquim representative, given the great support from fans in the country. Specialist in jiu-jitsu, the athlete will be put to the test against Virna jandiroba, a fighter who also has her main weapon in the ‘gentle art’.

Dreaming of following the trajectory towards the top of the strawweight division (up to 52,1kg.), currently led by Weili Zhang, the fighters will have to leave everything in the octagon to convince the company's management that they are, in fact, candidates for a future fight for the title.

Both Mackenzie and Jandiroba are coming off two big submission victories. This proves that the confrontation between the fighters promises to shake up the spirits of the main card spectators.

4) Jacaré returns to middleweight

One of the main middleweight names (up to 83,9 kg.) in recent UFC history, Ronaldo Jacare, for years, was a serious candidate to fight for the group's belt. The Brazilian ended up hitting the post a few times and saw his chances slip through his fingers.

After losing to Jack hermansson, in February last year, the Amazonian decided to test himself in the light heavyweight division (up to 93kg.) and ended up having an even fight with Jan Blachowicz, which still did not hold the title of the top group, in November of last year. Even so, Ronaldo ended up losing in the judges' decision, which influenced his decision to return to the group in which he experienced his best moments.

On Saturday, the former Strikeforce champion will exchange forces against the active Kevin holland, which is only going to its fifth performance in 2020, and which it did not miss during the year. Without fighting since his commitment against Blachowicz, Jacaré needs a good victory to try to return to the middleweight rankings, from which he was removed after his challenge in the top category.

5) Cigano, a former champion in danger

Heavyweight leader (up to 120,2kg) between 2011 and 2012, Cigano is the Brazilian with the most dangerous commitment – not just for his opponent. In a bad phase, suffering three consecutive setbacks, the Santa Catarina native needs to get back on track to avoid running the risk of being included in the cut of fighters who have been promoted by Ultimate in recent days.

A boxing specialist, the Brazilian has been finding it difficult to impose his best strategy against opponents who are currently at the top of the group. At the UFC 256, Júnior is committed to exchanging forces against the promising and undefeated Cyryl Gane, which is considered one of the promises for the future of the division.

The former champion has not won a fight since his triumph over Derrick Lewis, in March last year. Gane, in turn, hasn't known what it's like to lose since he started his career in 2018, and has been unbeatable with the Ultimate gloves in three commitments.
