After announcing that he will release around 60 UFC fighters in 2020, Dana White tried to end any discussion about a possible financial crisis in the company. In a press conference after the UFC Las Vegas 16, the 'boss', who recently released the veterans Anderson Silva e Yoel romero of its contracts, clarified that cuts are a natural process for the organization.

“We have taken these same measures every weekend for 20 years. We haven't in the last few months. It has nothing to do with paying the fighters or anything like that. We just didn’t do it in the last few months during the pandemic”, explained the president.

White then compared the UFC's situation with that of other organizations, which suffered financial losses due to the impossibility of promoting events with an audience. According to Dana, the way Ultimate conducted its projects in the face of a crisis in different areas of society proves that the company survived the difficulties.

“If I was trying to save money, I would have furloughed employees like every other company in America. This is how you save money when faced with something like this. I have honored each fighter's contract and we have not released any employees during the pandemic”, he concluded.
