Strikeforce confirms end of operations and changes Jacaré's opponent for farewell event

The speculations of recent months were confirmed this Friday (21). On the date known as the “end of the world”, Strikeforce announced the end of its operations from 2013 onwards. The farewell event will be on January 12th, in Oklahoma. The news was confirmed by the organization's president, Scott Coker, who promised a high-level farewell for MMA fans.

“Since 2009, Showtime (TV that shows the events in the United States) has been a great partner for Strikeforce and our athletes. For the last event, we prepared a card full of incredible fights. It will be an unforgettable night for sport”, said the director.

The organization also decided to make some changes to the card, changing the Brazilian's opponent Ronaldo Jacare. The Tupiniquim black belt, who was scheduled to face Lorenz Larkin, will now face the American Ed Herman, who moves from the UFC for the farewell event.

The last Strikeforce in history will have as its main fight the duel between Nate Marquardt and Tarec saffiedine, for the organization’s welterweight category belt. In addition to Jacaré, the show will feature Brazilians Roger gracie, Jorge Gurgel and Adriano Martins.
