This weekend, Deiveson will reach the mark of three appearances in the season. If he emerges victorious, the man from Pará, in addition to maintaining his position as leader of the flyweight division, will maintain his 100% success rate in 2020.
In February, the Brazilian faced Joseph Benavidez and brutalized the American with a devastating knockout in the title fight. Because he didn't make weight, the man from Pará couldn't take the belt at the time.
Almost five months later, the 'God of War' had the chance to fight for the belt, again against Joseph. In the confrontation, more of the same. This time, at weight, Figueiredo once again overpowered his rival and, after putting out his opponent with a rear-naked choke, became the absolute champion of the category.
On Saturday, the athlete will have to prove that he is the best in the division against Perez. The triumph will further consolidate the team from Pará as the biggest name in the group.
