Everything indicated that the important struggle between Conor McGregor e Dustin poirier would be held and only a few details prevented it from being made official, but that is not the case. The athletes reached an agreement publicly on social media and signed a gentlemen's agreement to face each other on January 23, 2021, in a duel valid for lightweight (70,3kg), but if everything is right between the pair, it is not , precisely, with the most important part of the equation: the UFC itself.

According to ESPN American, the one who is giving the organization trouble is not the Irish star but Poirier. According to information released by journalist Ariel Helwani, 'The Diamond' remains dissatisfied with his contract and, therefore, puts the fight against McGregor at risk. Willing to keep 'The Notorious' present on the date, the company is considering replacing the North American with his compatriot, Justin gaethje.

Gaethje is the UFC's first option, but that doesn't mean McGregor wants to face him. Recently, 'The Highlight' insulted the former lightweight champion as a man, father and husband.
