Canadian Georges St Pierre proved this Saturday (17) that the long time away from competitions, due to a serious knee injury, did not affect his performance against Carlos Condit in the main fight of UFC 154, an event held in the city of Montreal, Canada.
GSP set an intense pace in the fight and, despite the scare in the third round when he suffered a knockdown, he controlled the fight well and took the win in the judges' decision. Furthermore, the Canadian has another reason to celebrate. The welterweight title unification fight was voted the best of the night. As a bonus, the athletes pocketed US$70, approximately R$145.
In addition to St. Pierre and Condit, another welterweight also won an award. The North American John hendricks, who should be GSP's next challenger, took the best knockout bonus for his blow to Danish Martin Kampmann. The award for best submission went to Ivan Menjivar for his arm-bar on Azamat Gashimov.
