Khamzat Shimaev is experiencing the good and bad sides of its meteoric rise. Good thing, because his impressive performances in the UFC made him known worldwide. The bad thing is because his dominance over his opponents is scaring away many athletes.

At the press conference for UFC Ilha da Luta 6, an event that will take place this Saturday (17), in Abu Dhabi, the Swedish promise, once again, showed confidence that he is already capable of not only beating the top welterweights (77,6kg) and medium (83,9kg), as well as dethroning the champions, Kamaru Usman e Israel adesanyarespectively.

“(Darren) Till is a good guy, but he’s not on my level. I will knock it down and crush it. I asked him to come to Abu Dhabi, because I'm still waiting. I also want to fight Demian. I might strangle him and get his black belt. If he wants to fight me, I'm ready. For me, it doesn't matter who it is. I love fighting! The belt is coming. What are they going to do? I beat all my opponents via the fast track. The UFC has to give me the belt. I train hard at the gym and I'm always there. I'm ready for everyone. It could be Usman or Adesanya,” said a confident Chimaev.

With the delay in defining the next opponent, Chimaev accused the athletes of being afraid and informed that one of the things that distracts him is, precisely, the interaction with the public.

“I don’t know who I’m going to fight against. I am waiting. Many fighters say that I'm not in the top-10, that I'm not known, but if everyone talks about me, how come they don't know me? I think they are scared and say nonsense. The fans know who I am, they talk to me, they take pictures and I love that. It’s a good energy”, he concluded.

Khamzat Shimaev debuted in July, in the first season of 'Ilha da Luta', returned to the Octagon ten days later, his third appearance was in Las Vegas, USA, and lasted just 17 seconds. The next one will be the main fight and the expectation is that the opponent will be a top-15 welterweight or middleweight. The names leading the race are Neil Magny e Ian Heinisch.
