Back to basics in preparation

“The preparation, this time, was done in Brazil. In recent years, I stayed in the United States. For me, it's been really good, because I traveled away from home when I was 22 and never went back. I'm going back to my roots. I did the camp (training) in my city (Piracicaba, SP), close to my family, with the people I started with. So, it’s been great to be together with the guys I’ve trained since the beginning,” he said.

Opponent analysis

This weekend, Bruno will be responsible for trying to ruin Tagir Ulabenkov's UFC debut. The Brazilian then analyzed the opponent's strengths and weaknesses.

“Starting with what's good about him: he's a good wrestler, so he'll want to come to suppress it, to put it down, kind of tying up the fight. His weak point is standing up. He is slow for the category. I believe that standing is the path of stones. I’m going to undermine him and end this fight”, explained Bulldoguinho.

Belt dream

Any athlete who tests himself professionally in a combat sport dreams of becoming a champion. With Bruno, then, it is no different. The fighter spoke about his desire to compete for the division title, which currently belongs to his compatriot, Deiveson Figueiredo, and clarified whether he would eventually face the man from Pará.

“For me, it doesn’t matter who it is. I want to fight for the title. I want him (Deiveson) to stay there and beat everyone until I get there and fight him. The guy is sinister, Brazilian, warrior. We know where we came from and where we want to go. Hopefully he stays there until I arrive and we’ll fight,” he said.

Ideal ending for Saturday

For Bruno, in UFC Fight Island 5, which is victory, regardless of how it comes. However, the São Paulo native revealed what the ideal scenario would be for a victory over Ulabenkov.

“I see myself getting knocked out in the first round. Hitting him standing up, he felt it. Me letting go of my game. That’s how I see it,” he closed.
