Boi controls De Castro

Carlos Boi e yorgan de castro they staged a duel worthy of the heavyweight division (120,2kg). The strikers, who promised a standing war, did not disappoint and exchanged powerful blows for 15 minutes. The Brazilian's attacks were based on volume, while the Cape Verdean athlete was based on strength.

In the first round, this became evident. Boi was more active and hit his opponent several times, with straight shots, jabs and low kicks. De Castro practically did not attack.

The Brazilian also stood out at the beginning of the second round, following the same strategy. However, in the other half, De Castro balanced his actions and hit his opponent with powerful crosses.

In the last round, the script was the same. Boi had the most acute moments of the duel. The Brazilian took advantage of the fact that De Castro had chosen to fight the fight on the fence and hit him with hard knees.

In a very important fight for bantamweight (61,2kg), Germain de Randamie surprised. Not because of beating Juliana Peña, but because of the way she triumphed. The Dutchwoman, known for having a high level of striking, applied a guillotine and submitted her for the first time in her career.

PUBLICITY:

In the first round, the former category champion was superior and confirmed her superiority on the feet. Despite being 36 years old, she was faster and managed to stun Peña, who felt the volume and power of the blows received.

In the second round, Peña managed to put the fight into practice and even tried to submit his opponent. In the final sequence, it was Randamie's turn to get out of the delicate position he was in and almost managed the submission.

With the duel tied, the third round would be decisive, but a mistake by Peña made Randamie's mission easier. When attempting a takedown, the Venezuelan left her neck exposed and, showing opportunism, the Dutchwoman did not waste the chance. She applied a guillotine choke and erased her opponent.

With the triumph, Randamie recovers from the defeat suffered by the champion, Amanda nunes, and puts himself in a good position to fight for the belt again. Peña, who hadn't played since July 2019, suffered his second defeat in the UFC. Previously, it was completed by Valentina ShevchenkoIn 2017.

Phillips continues to show evolution

Kyler Phillips he had already impressed in his UFC debut, beating Gabriel Silva, and, once again, he left a good impression in the Octagon. Originally, the fighter would face Danaa Batgerel, but he was prevented from traveling to Abu Dhabi and Cameron Else replaced him. Without proper preparation, the newcomer was dominated.

The first round already showed dominance from Phillips, who was very active in the Octagon. He controlled the actions and had more blows. In the second round, upon realizing that the dynamics were the same, the favorite was more incisive and was willing to win the fast way. And the initiative worked. After 44 seconds, Phillips applied a sequence of blows that left Else stunned and attacked him violently on the ground.

Phillips, 25 years old, has evolved quite quickly and with another good performance, he is starting to see a possible place in the top-15 of the bantamweight division (61,2kg).

Todorovic impresses on debut

Since it was made official, the fight between Dusko Todorovic and Dequan Townsend, valid at middleweight (83,9kg) caused concern in the MMA community. Some reasons explain this: the fact that the first is undefeated in MMA, the second has lost the three fights he had in the UFC and is experiencing personal drama (he lost two brothers in a shooting). And, from the moment the referee authorized the fight, this was evident in the Octagon.

Despite making his debut, the Serb didn't feel the pressure of fighting in the UFC and was superior from start to finish, in all areas. Todorovic got the better of the first round, without suffering any scares. The Serb's performance was even better in the second, when he managed to take down Townsend and only stop his attacks on the ground when the referee interrupted the action.

It is worth remembering that one of Todorovic's victories in MMA was, precisely, over Michael Pereira. In turn, Townsend was defeated for the fourth time in a row, remains without a win in the UFC and his situation is quite delicate.
