Back in the UFC, Carlos Condit eyes a rematch against Nick Diaz: 'It was a controversial fight'

Former interim welterweight champion agrees to repeat the fight, even though he won in 2012

Without fighting since 2018, Carlos Condit, will face Court mcgee, this Saturday (3), on 'Ilha da Luta', in Abu Dhabi, but what he really wants is a rematch with Nick Diaz. At the pre-show press conference, the North American, who became interim welterweight champion (77,6kg) after defeating the bad boy, explained that, as the duel between them was controversial and generated a lot of discussion, he is open to a repeat of the confrontation.

“It was impossible to ignore the fans’ complaints and the discussion about the result. I know a lot of people want to see this rematch, I would love to face Nick again and I think Nick wants this fight too. I don't know what he has planned, but if the stars align, this fight could happen. She intrigued many fans. If I beat McGee, the rematch interests me. It's an interesting matchup and it was controversial. Why not settle the score?” said Condit.

'The Natural Born Killer' also celebrated the fact that he was back in the Octagon after a long layoff and praised his opponent.

“I'm enjoying being in fight week again, the preparation ritual, the weight cut and everything. I'm very excited and I have a good opponent. McGee is tough, experienced and headstrong. I think we'll put on a show. He doesn’t back down and comes to fight,” he concluded.

Despite being one of the fighters most loved by fans, Condit's phase is not good. At 36 years old, the athlete lost five consecutive fights and even considered retirement.
