Dustin Poirier shows interest in five-round fight against Tony Ferguson

Despite not having reached an agreement with the UFC, 'The Diamond' once again asked for an important fight

Fans of big fights have reason to celebrate, because the long-awaited duel between Dustin poirier e Tony Ferguson it can still happen. Previously, the UFC planned for the fight to be part of the fight card. UFC 254, an event that will be held on October 25th, on Ilha da Luta, however 'The Diamond' and the organization did not reach an agreement. However, upon seeing 'El Cucuy's' interest, Poirier backed down and is willing to negotiate.

Apparently, according to a post on his Instagram, the intention of the former interim lightweight champion (70,3kg) is for the fight against Ferguson to have five rounds and not three.

It is worth remembering that both Dustin poirier as Tony Ferguson refused to face Michael chandler, former Bellator lightweight champion, because they made a gentleman's agreement to meet in the Octagon.

Poirier's last performance was victory in the battle against Dan Hooker, in June 2020, which should compete for the best fight of the year award. Before that, 'The Diamond' had won four of his last five fights, going through the likes of Justin gaethje, Max Holloway, Eddie Alvarez and Anthony Pettis.
