Referee stops fight, asks if knocked out fighter can continue and creates new controversy in UFC

After a grotesque failure last weekend, Chris Tognoni stars in a new regrettable episode in the fight between Jessica-Rose Clark and Sarah Alpar, which could have ended in tragedy

A negative highlight of last weekend's card, referee Chris Tognoni once again drew attention for a serious error this Saturday (19), for UFC Las Vegas 11, in the United States. Responsible for commanding the confrontation between Jessica Rose Clark and Sarah Alpar, the driver did not see a clear knockout from Clark in the third round and allowed the confrontation to continue, which resulted in a real massacre by Jessica over Sarah (see the video below).

At the time of the incident, Jessica landed a knee that landed cleanly on Alpar's face, who was knocked out. Tognoni, instead of declaring the knockout, interrupted the confrontation so that Sarah could be evaluated by the doctor. He even asked if Alpar was capable of returning to the fight.

At first, there were doubts about the legality of the blow delivered by Clark, however, after the replay, it was proven that the attack was valid, so the confrontation should have been stopped at that moment.

Chris, however, allowed the duel to continue. From then on, viewers watched regrettable scenes in which Rose, fulfilling her role as a fighter, harshly punished her rival, who was clearly unable to continue acting. After a true massacre, the referee finally stopped the dispute with just under a minute left for the timer to reset.

Last week, at UFC Las Vegas 10, Tognoni was also the subject of a controversial episode. In the confrontation between Ed Herman and Mike Rodriguez, the referee did not see a clear knockout for the former, interrupted the confrontation for evaluation and allowed the fight to resume.

Chris's attitude directly influenced the result. Ed managed to recover and, in the last round, promoted a comeback, submitting Rodriguez with a Kimura. The driver's action angered Dana White, who, at last weekend's press conference, rebelled against the professional.

White's new review

Just like last week, Dana, at the press conference, once again criticized Tognori for his performance. Speaking to the press, the 'boss' did not forgive Chris for the decision that could have had a tragic result.

“A horrible situation. The fight should have been ended, just like last week. Her (Alpar) nose was broken. It was the end. It should have been closed. It’s something that needs to be talked about”, said the boss.
