The fight between Sean O'Malley and Marlon Vera happened almost a week ago, in UFC 252, but it still has repercussions and rivals remain on a collision course. And it seems that the bantamweight prospect (61,2kg.) didn't handle the first defeat of his career well. O'Malley confessed to being frustrated with the result, as he considers himself better than the executioner and said he was lucky.

“Vera was lucky, but what makes me feel better is knowing that, in five years, I will be champion and he will be just one more. Vera is not that good and I lost to him. That's what's most frustrating. I lost to someone I'm better at. He's slow, but he's brave. His pace is slow, I would explode, I wouldn't get tired and I would detonate. I wouldn't knock him out in the first round, because he's tough, patient and that was good for me. He didn't do anything, he was just in front of me. He sucks,” O’Malley said on his “The Timbo Sugar Show” podcast.

Even though he was defeated, O'Malley, once again, minimized Vera's quality as a fighter and surprised him by stating that he is not humble at all.

“Everything was perfect, I felt good, in shape and confident that I would break Vera. In the fight, it was easy. Vera is slow and she couldn't touch me or fall. The only thing that bothers me is that I lost in a way that I feel like I didn't and I lost to a guy who isn't that good. I didn't feel in danger. It doesn't matter what happened. He won. He won the lottery. My post-fight post was a joke. Everyone was commenting, but I'm not humiliated. I’m not humble,” he concluded.

With the result, O'Malley suffered his first defeat as a professional in 13 fights and dropped out of the UFC's top-15 bantamweight division. On the other hand, Vera recovered from the controversial defeat suffered against song yadong, won for the 16th time in 23 presentations and was once again among the best in the category.
