Bomb! Jon Jones He is no longer UFC light heavyweight champion (up to 93 kg). On the night of this Monday (17), the North American announced that he gave up his reign in the category, which has been going back and forth since 2011. Through a series of Twitter posts, Jones revealed that he has not reached a financial agreement with the UFC. The fighter, however, left the possibility of an agreement open. But he said his eventual return would be in the heavyweight division.
“I just got off the phone with the UFC. Today I can announce that I am leaving the light heavyweight belt. It is officially available. It has been an incredible journey, My sincere thanks to all my opponents, UFC and most importantly, the fans”, wrote the fighter.
“The last time I talked to the UFC about my salary there was no negotiation. If that ever changes, I would love to come back and compete as a heavyweight again. Until then, I will enjoy the UFC as a fan and do my best to take care of my family and community”, concluded the now former champion.
