Tough night for Herbert Burns. In the confrontation against Daniel Pineda, held this Saturday (15), by UFC 252, in Las Vegas (USA), the Brazilian was unable to repeat his previous performances and ended up losing by knockout to the North American at the end of the second round.

The negative result confirmed the Brazilian's first defeat since his UFC debut. Burns was coming off two big wins in 2020, both in the first round.
Without losing in six fights, Daniel has a lot to celebrate. In addition to beating one of Brazil's biggest promises in the featherweight division (up to 65,7kg), the triumph came on his return to Ultimate after more than six years away.
With the setback, Hebert now has three defeats in his professional MMA career. Pineda, in turn, reached the mark of 27 triumphs in 42 appearances in the sport.
The fight
The fight began with Pineda connecting with a cross that exploded in Burns' face, but the Niteroi native didn't land the blow. The Brazilian went for a grappling fight. Daniel managed to take the fight to the ground and Daniel threw blows from top to bottom. The American still had the advantage and Herbert defended himself as best he could. Pineda crushed the Brazilian, who was unable to free himself. In the final minute, the North American continued attacking the Niteroi native with punches and elbows, but the timer ran to zero.
The second round began with Burns connecting with a right cross and then taking down Daniel. Herbert managed to get to the back. In a favorable position, the Brazilian attempted transitions and sought mount. Pineda managed to explode and reversed position. The American turned the game around and the situation became more complicated for Burns. Reaching the final minute, Daniel punished Herbert with elbows and tried to resist the pressure imposed by his rival. Pineda blocked the Niteroi native's arm and prevented Herbert from reacting. After a series of elbows, the referee interrupted the confrontation, declaring the knockout for the North American.
