Miocic and Cormier confirm title fight at UFC 252; Herbert Burns fails weight cut

Protagonists of the night guarantee a trilogy this Saturday for the heavyweight title; Brazilian and TJ Brown were the only ones to break the limits of their divisions

Everything is fine for the main fight of the UFC 252, which takes place this Saturday (15), in Las Vegas. Protagonists of the show, Stipe Miocic e Daniel Cormier confirmed their weights this Friday afternoon (14) and guaranteed their presence on this weekend's card, valid for the heavyweight belt (up to 120,2kg.). Herbert Burns e TJ Brown they were the only fighters to break the limits of their categories.

Absolute heavyweight champion Miocic didn't take long to step up to the scales. Along with the first wave of athletes, the number one in the category weighed 105,6kg, and is ready for his first title defense since regaining his position.

Once a leader and now a challenger, Daniel made what could be confirmed as the last weigh-in of his career. For the third fight against Miocic, DC appeared lighter than the last time the athletes met. The former champion weighed exactly 107kg.

Representatives of the co-main fight of the night, the promising Sean O'Malley, who seeks to assert the phenomenon label, scored the same amount as his opponent this Saturday, Marlon Vera. Representatives of the bantamweights (up to 61,2kg.), the combatants weighed 61,6kg., using the pound (454g) tolerance, as there is no belt dispute between them.

Former heavyweight champion, junior gypsy impressed with the physical shape presented at the weigh-in. With bulging muscles, the former category leader weighed 108,1kg, around 7kg. below his opponent, Jairinho Rozenstruik, who weighed 115,2kg.

Brazilian fault

A surprise for Brazilians. After having his performance promoted to the main card, Herbert Burns ended up failing to make the weight cut for the confrontation against Daniel Pineda. The Niteroi native weighed more than 2kg. above the official featherweight limit (up to 65,7kg.) and must pass on a percentage of his purse to his opponent, who weighed 66,2kg.

In addition to Burns, one more athlete failed to meet the objective. Preliminary card representative, TJ Brown, who also plays at featherweight, weighed 66,4kg, while his opponent, Danny Chavez scored 66,2kg. TJ will also lose a portion of his payments.
