Chris Weidman He finally made peace with victory. The former middleweight champion, who is going through the worst phase of his career, defeated the Russian Omari Akhmedov in the unanimous decision of the judges. The fight was the second most anticipated in the UFC Las Vegas 6, held this Saturday (08), in the USA.

With the result, Weidman takes a weight off his shoulders and ends a bad streak in his career. The triumph was only the second for the former middleweight champion and executioner of Anderson Silva in the last seven fights. On the other hand, Akhmedov has a streak of six fights without losing in the UFC.
The fight
Pressured for victory, Weidman started the fight willing not to take any risks. The North American attacked his rival's legs looking for a takedown on three occasions. Akhmedov, in turn, was in danger in the stand-up fight. Halfway through the partial, Weidman managed the takedown and, despite not striking, he scored points.
On the way back to the second round, Akhmedov took the initiative. He landed good strikes while standing and even took down Weidman. The North American even managed to get up and insisted on the takedown again. However, the Russian kept the fight going and hit the former champion well, who seemed lost in the fight.
With the duel tied, the third round would be responsible for defining the winner. AND Chris Weidman managed to stand out. Even though he was showing a lot of fatigue, Weidman attacked with a takedown and quickly got on Akhmedov's back. The North American quickly moved to mount and threatened the katagatame. However, Weidman preferred not to take any risks and only hit the Russian safely to avoid losing his position on the ground. At end, Chris Weidman won the judges' decision.
