Although it provided fans with a great spectacle at the UFC 251, on July 11, when he faced and was defeated by Petr yan in the fight for the bantamweight belt (up to 61,2kg.), José Aldo recognizes that he could have done better in some areas in the confrontation. In conversation with 'Combate', the 'People's Champion' analyzed the duel and confirmed his desire to follow the path towards a new conquest in Ultimate.

“The last performance, due to the defeat, we didn't like it very much, but I really liked it. There was no need to add more hands. In training, I was developing my hand a lot and, in the fight, I didn't develop it as much. But it was more due to the opponent, who set his own pace and put pressure from start to finish, but I really liked the performance, I kicked again, made the combinations I always did and there was little left. The fight was 50-50, he had an opportunity at the beginning, then I had mine, but I couldn't take advantage. I really liked my performance”, said the manauara.

Although he was defeated by knockout in the last round, the Brazilian's performance drew praise from the company's president, Dana White. As he did not suffer a dominant setback, Aldo clarifies that the dream of the title remains intact in his thoughts and that he wants to have the chance again in the future.

“I think about it a lot. Anyone who knows me knows how much I train and how motivated I am to train. That's why, to be champion. The generations change and we always stay on top too. Motivation remains high and I have the desire to become champion of this new category for my legacy. That’s why I train hard, why I fight, because I want to win it all”, he said.

To challenge the champion, the Brazilian must prove that he is capable of defeating bantamweight athletes and that he is among the most competitive names for a possible opportunity. To do this, José projects his return, but does not focus on a specific opponent.

“I don’t think much about my opponent. I'm preparing to fight with the best. The day I try to choose an opponent, I have to retire. I want to fight with the best, I never chose a name, I always want the best. Whoever is the best, that's who I want to face. I'm still fighting this year, next week I'll be back training and planning everything. By November, December at the latest, I want to have one more fight because that’s how I get my rhythm back in this category”, he concluded.

Aldo debuted among the bantamweights in December last year in the clash against Marlon moraes. Despite being defeated, the manauara surprised with his performance and guaranteed himself as one of the favorites to fight for the title, which, at the time, belonged to Henry Cejudo.
