Brazilian MMA icon, Fabricio Werdum appears to be, in fact, saying goodbye to the UFC. Former heavyweight champion (up to 120,2 kg), the athlete will have the last fight of his contract this Saturday (25), at UFC Fight Island 3, in Abu Dhabi, when facing Alexander Gustafson. In an interview with 'Ag.Fight', the gaucho ruled out any possibility of renewing with Ultimate and signals continuation of his career in another organization.

“There is no possibility (of renewing with the UFC). All these years with the UFC were very good. We had a good relationship, sometimes there were some controversies, some disagreements, things that happen in a normal relationship. I am very grateful to the UFC for all these years, I practically spent my career in the UFC. I always wanted to join the UFC and they gave me that opportunity twice. I was fired and came back because I was annoying myself (laughs). But the cycle is over, the cycle has been good so far”, declared 'Vai Cavalo'.
Having just turned 43, anyone who thinks that Fabrício will retire from the sport after the clash against the Swede is mistaken. The fighter stated that he could be seen donning another company's gloves in the future.
“Now I want to pursue my career a little more, and I want to do it my way. Suddenly fighting in other events, I’ve already fought in many events and I want to be able to have other possibilities,” she said.
This Saturday, Werdum will reach the mark of 34 appearances since his MMA debut. The Brazilian has 23 wins, nine losses and one draw.
