The historic performance of Deiveson Figueiredo against Jospeh Benavidez this Saturday (18), in Abu Dhabi, drew praise for the Brazilian from Ultimate's president, Dana White. In a press conference after the UFC Fight Island 2, the 'big boss' surrendered to the talent of the man from Pará, who won the flyweight belt (up to 56,7kg.) in an impeccable performance.

“Pure violence. There are no controversies in this fight. We have two hungry champions in both divisions (fly and bantam) now. (…) Look how this guy did tonight. After everything that happened in the first fight, with the weight cut, the headbutt, there are no doubts about this one. He came and did what he said he was going to do against the number two in the rankings,” said White.

Dana also spoke about a statement from Deiveson during the week in which the Brazilian confessed his desire to compete for the title in the bantamweight category (up to 61,2kg). Although he did not reject the idea, the president made reservations so that the proposal could be consolidated.

“I want to see him defend his belt a few times. If he does that, it could be interesting,” he revealed.

After Deiveson's victory, Brazil ended a period of more than three years without a belt among men. The last athlete to hold the title had been José Aldo, who lost the featherweight title (up to 65,7kg.) in 2017, when he faced Max Holloway.
