Athlete removed from UFC Las Vegas 4 after coach tests positive for COVID-19

Welterweight Ramiz Brahimaj was scheduled to face Takashi Sato this Saturday; Ultimate acted quickly and promoted Jason Witt to fight on the preliminary card

A new case of a coach diagnosed with COVID-19 forced the Ultimate management to remove one of its athletes from a show. For this Saturday's card (27), the welterweight (up to 77kg.) Ramiz Brahimaj – who would make his debut with the organization – ended up leaving the show after one of his technicians tested positive for coronavirus in one of the tests carried out by the company. The athlete would face Takashi Sato on the preliminary card of UFC Las Vegas 4 and will be replaced by Jason Witt.

The incident is not unprecedented since the UFC decided to resume its activities during the pandemic. Last week, Matt frevola would face Frank Camacho in the UFC Las Vegas 3, but left the card after a teammate tested positive for the coronavirus. At the time, the North American was replaced by Justin jaynes, who won by knockout, even earning a performance bonus.

Scheduled to replace Ramiz, Witt will make his debut as a UFC fighter this Saturday. The fighter is 33 years old and has 20 appearances as a professional in MMA, with 15 wins and five losses.
