UFC President Dana White definitely cares about the well-being of Conor McGregor within the organization. A self-confessed fan of the Irishman, the agent suggested that his pupil wait for the clash between Khabib Nurmagomedov e Justin gaethje, for the unification of the lightweight belt (up to 70,3kg), to decide the next step in his career.

“The best thing for him (Conor) – I'm not saying that's what's going to happen –, in my opinion, is to let this fight between Gaethje and Khabib happen and then he would face the winner. I think this is the smartest option for him. But you know him, maybe he wants to fight before then and if he wants to, we can think of something. I think this is the move for him at the moment”, proposed the 'boss' in an interview with the 'Talk the Talk' podcast.
Since returning to MMA after spending 2019 inactive, McGregor has received unusual offers for confrontations. After the real show promoted against Donald Cerrone, in January of this year, the athlete was even challenged by the welterweight champion (up to 77kg.), Kamaru Usman, for a clash for the division title.
The 'Notório' was also invited by the legendary Anderson Silva to perform a superfight in a catchweight fight (up to 80kg.). At the time, the Brazilian's request was responded positively by the Irishman.
In interviews to publicize the UFC 246, at the beginning of the year, Conor stated several times that his plan was to perform at least three times in 2020. Waiting for the meeting between Khabib and Gaethje could frustrate the plans of the former featherweight champion (up to 65,7kg.) and light.
Regarding the lightweight title unification, Nurmagomedov stated that he would be ready to perform in July or September. The UFC board, however, has not made official when it intends to hold the fight between Khabib and Gaethje.
