Without 'Spider' and Jones, Daniel Cormier ranks the best in MMA history

After Conor McGregor listed the best athletes in the history of MMA, other fighters entered the game and gave their opinions. This time, the former light heavyweight (up to 93kg) and heavyweight (up to 120,2kg) champion, Daniel Cormier, decided to list, based on his criteria, who are the biggest names in the sport.

“Firstly, I want to make it clear: if you were caught using steroids, you're out,” said DC, in an interview with Ariel Helwani, from 'ESPN', before listing his chosen ones.

“Khabib (Nurmagomedov), Georges (St. Pierre), 'DJ' (Demetrious Johnson), me and probably (Conor) McGregor”, said Daniel, before adding another important name. “Henry Cejudo also. He won two belts,” added Cormier.

The North American was then challenged to choose the best among the names mentioned. After a pause to reflect, the fighter declared St. Pierre as the best of all time.

PUBLICITY:

“I think it’s the Georges St Pierre. When he won the fight against Michael Bisping (in November 2017, for the belt) in the middleweight division (up to 83,9kg.), and became champion in two categories, with everything he had done before, I think he is Georges (the best in history).

Thinking about justifying the absence of two of the biggest names in UFC history, DC stated that there is nothing personal against 'Spider' and Jon, athletes that Daniel has already faced. The fighter tried to avoid controversy and stated that his analysis is simply based on fighters who were not caught in anti-doping tests.

PUBLICITY:

“I’m not trying to criticize Anderson or Jones. I'm saying something very clear: 'When you start to get caught in (anti-doping) tests, man...'. You cannot fail the tests”, he concluded.

Silva and 'Bones' are two of the greatest champions in the history of Ultimate. However, the Brazilian ended up failing an anti-doping test in 2015, shortly after his fight against Nick Diaz. Jon, in turn, was caught on two occasions: one in 2016 and the other in 2017.
