Ultimate's president, Dana White, praised the performance of Edson Barboza in his debut among featherweights (up to 65,7kg.). The agent stated that the Brazilian performed well in front of Dan Ige, this Saturday (16), at UFC Overeem vs. Harris, in Jacksonville (USA), and also disagreed with the judges who gave the North American victory in the split decision.

“I scored the victory for Barboza. He was fine. He looked strong for a guy who had to cut that amount of weight”, said the 'boss' at the press conference after the show.

This weekend, Edson began his journey in the new category. In recent years, the Friburgo native has played at lightweight (up to 70,3kg) and has become something of a 'man to beat' in the category. Although he is not in the best moment of his career, as he has suffered five defeats in his last six appearances, the Brazilian is still considered a strong name within the organization.

Against Ige, Barboza showed that he can be competitive within the group led by Alexander Volkanovsky. The fighter faced number 15 in the rankings and is now waiting for his next challenge to try to reach the elite of the division.
