The health of the athlete's father, Abdulmanap, who had been hospitalized since last week with suspected pneumonia, worsened and the Russian's mentor had to be transferred from Dagestan to Moscow (Russia) on a special plane to continue treatment. . Abdulmanap felt unwell just over a week ago, when he was in the mountains of Makhachkala (Dagestan), and was immediately referred to the 'Second City Hospital' care center. After an initial assessment, it was suspected that the 57-year-old coach had pneumonia. The veteran, however, would undergo a battery of tests to confirm, with certainty, his real illness and, also, so that any possibility of having contracted the coronavirus (Covid-19) could be ruled out.

During this period, Khabib's father remained hospitalized, but, according to a close friend, Ubaydula Osmanov, in an interview with 'RIA Dagestan', the UFC champion's mentor took a turn for the worse, which led the medical team to opt for transfer to a Moscow hospital.

“I spoke to Abdulmanap a few days ago, and he told me he was fine, recovering. But on May 3, a relative close to him told me that he suddenly felt unwell, and had to be flown to Moscow on a special plane that same day. I believe he had some heart problem,” Ubaydula said.
