After withdrawing from the card UFC 249, which would take place on April 18, Khabib Nurmagomedov went a step further. Concerned about the damage caused by the coronavirus pandemic (Covid-19), the athlete released a note with the intention of raising awareness among his fans about the dangers of the disease and the need for special care in times of confinement.

“Many hope that this problem passes through our homes without reaching us. Many still don't believe the seriousness of the situation. However, our negligence regarding the recommendations of doctors along with the panic developed by people has led to an increase in the spread of the disease among people. This has caused our hospitals to be overcrowded with patients and there are not enough doctors and medicines. The number of sick people is increasing,” Khabib wrote.

The Russian then took the opportunity to speak to those who do not believe in the seriousness of the disease that has already caused thousands of deaths around the world. For the fighter, prevention measures must be followed and respected so that the world can return to normal as quickly as possible.

“Believe me. This disease is deadly and we already feel it. By staying at home we can reduce the burden on doctors and hospitals, and perhaps our care can save our lives. Take care of your loved ones and don't allow them to leave the house unnecessarily. May Allah protect us from all diseases, heal the sick and people around the world”, concluded the champion.

At the moment, there is no prediction on when Khabib will be able to return to the Octagon. Currently, the athlete fulfills his religious commitment during the period of Ramadan (the period from April 23 to May 23 in which Muslims practice fasting) and should only return to fight in the second half of this year.
