It is no secret that Amanda nunes would be one of the biggest names for the card that would mark the resumption of Ultimate activities amid the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic. The bantamweight (up to 61,2kg.) and featherweight (up to 65,7kg.) champion, however, ended up announcing that she preferred not to participate in the show amidst so much uncertainty and respect for the global health crisis. The Brazilian's coach, Conan Silveira, explained another reason for the 'Leoa's' absence from the show, which ended up being confirmed for May 9th.

“Amanda had a small ankle injury, she preferred to stop and treat it rather than run, as we were at that stage where we didn't know what was going to happen. We didn't know if it would be May 9th, where it would be. We had several questions and few answers. In the training sessions we were doing before stopping, she got injured and we didn't want to force her. We prefer to stop and treat her, so she is ready, as she has always been, to return as quickly as possible”, stated the ATT (American Top Team) coach in an interview with 'Combate'.

Nunes' next commitment will mark something unprecedented in the Bahian's career. Against Felicia spencer, the Bahian will make her first defense of the featherweight belt, won in December 2018, when the athlete shocked the world and beat Chris Cyborg.

Former Invicta FC champion, Spencer, however, will have to wait a little longer to have the chance to interrupt the 'Lionea's' reign. Recently, the North American said she was frustrated by the Brazilian's absence on the card, but stated that she will continue the preparation process for the confrontation in the future.
