After announcing the return of its activities, Ultimate is now back to negotiating fights for its future cards. One of the planned clashes is the meeting between cody garbrandt e Raphael Assunção, which should take place on June 6th, with no location yet defined. The information was released by 'MMA Fighting'.

This is not the first time that the fight between the North American and the Brazilian has been scheduled. The two were scheduled to exchange forces in a fight that would take place on March 28. However, Garbrandt ended up leaving the fight after experiencing kidney problems during the weight cut period. The card, however, did not happen due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Coming from defeats to Cory Sandhagen e Marlon moraes, Assunção, today, occupies fifth place in the ranking of roosters (up to 61,2kg.). The Brazilian, who was already considered one of the favorites to fight for the division title, needs to win to return to the company's radar.
Former division champion, Cody is experiencing a moment of instability within the UFC. Responsible for ending the reign of Dominick Cruz, in 2016, the athlete saw his career shaken after losing the title to his great rival and former teammate, TJ Dillashaw, in 2017. The North American ended up defeated in the rematch, held the following year and even suffered a new setback when he faced Peter Munhoz, in March last year.
Far from his best moment, Garbrandt stated that he could move to the flyweight category (up to 56,7kg) in the future. The fighter seeks to reinvent himself in the sport and once again make great presentations to his fans. Former number one in the group, the North American currently finds himself in ninth place in the division's ranking.
