UFC welterweight champion (up to 77kg) between 2016 and 2019, Tyron woodley is willing to return to the company's management radar. Without acting since the defeat to Kamaru Usman Last year, the North American decided to provoke the current middleweight champion (up to 83,9kg) and suggested that he could move up a division, after a few more fights in his current category, to face the Nigerian in the future.

“I have to clean up the welterweight division. Three or four fights in the category and then, when I feel comfortable saying that I won them all, I'll move up a division and see if 'Izzy' (Israel adesanya) is all of that,” Woodley said in an Instagram live stream.

Tyron had a fight scheduled against Leon edwards No. UFC London, which was supposed to take place on March 21, but the event ended up being canceled due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The athlete, however, hoped to recover the good phase of his career so that he could begin his plan.

“I'll go straight for the belt (if I move up a division). I'm not going up to play. I’m already a five-time world champion,” said Woodley.

Thinking about a new title fight, the former champion took the opportunity to 'take a dig' at Adesanya, who, today, is one of the main names in Ultimate. The fighter minimized Israel's talent and stated that he could beat him in a possible fight.

“I think he's not as stupid as everyone says. I think he's great, but everyone is acting like he's a phenomenon. I already saw some exposure in the fight against (Kelvin) Gastelum. I have seen some exposure in the fight of Yoel romero. He's afraid of strong guys. One thing Yoel and I have in common is strength, explosiveness,” he said.

Upon learning of Woodley's attack, Israel wasted no time and responded ironically to Tyron's speech. The Nigerian responded in kind and joked about the fact that the former welterweight champion was dominated and beaten by his friend, Kamaru Usman, in his last appointment.

“You couldn’t even deal with the Nigerian nightmare, Kamaru Usman, when he was only 30% of his form,” Israel wrote on his Twitter account.
