With the great mobilization of the world due to the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19), many sporting events have postponed shows in order to reduce the risk of contamination by the disease as much as possible. With Ultimate it was no different. However, the company and people related to MMA continue to look for alternatives so that important events, such as the UFC 249, initially confirmed for April 18th, are not cancelled. Thinking about maintaining the event, Khabib's father, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, suggested that his son's fight against Tony Ferguson happen in Dubai. In an interview with 'RBC Sport', the 'Águia' mentor justified the idea.

“Most likely it will be Dubai. Firstly, it's easier to fight illnesses because of the heat, and I think the Emirates (Arabs) will pay for the UFC fight faster and easier. Abu Dhabi could very well be the place, but that depends on Dana White,” said Abdulmanap.
Last Monday (16), White ended up giving in and announced the cancellation of three events that would take place in the coming weeks. The idea is to adopt preventive measures to avoid the crowding of people in the same environment.
The agent, however, made a point of clarifying that the meeting between Khabib and Ferguson is confirmed, even if there are still difficulties in finding a place to hold the lightweight title fight (up to 70,3kg).
If Ultimate postpones the fight between Nurmagomedov and Tony, this will be the fifth time that a meeting between the athletes has not taken place on the scheduled date. The combatants should have already exchanged forces on four other occasions, however, injuries on both sides prevented the show from taking place.
