UFC Brasilia, the first Ultimate event in Brazil in 2020, may be about to be cancelled. The government of the Federal District published, on Wednesday night (11), a decree prohibiting the holding of public events for the next five days due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Like UFC Brasilia is scheduled for next Saturday (14), if no changes are made, the show may be canceled or held behind closed doors.
The UFC has not yet made any decision about the impasse, but Arena BSB, the concessionaire that manages the Nilson Nelson Gymnasium, where the event is scheduled to take place, issued an official note about the case.
"Arena BSB informs that it has become aware of a decree from the Government of the Federal District that restricts public access to sporting and cultural events, and is awaiting a specific position regarding the agendas scheduled for this Saturday: UFC and Candangão match (Brazilian football championship) . The concessionaire also clarifies that it will follow all official determinations in order to collaborate with the maintenance of public health".
Government Position
The governor of Brasília, Ibaneis Rocha, in an interview with the local Rede Globo, stated that the measure of canceling any public event in the Federal District aims to prevent the virus from spreading and analyze measures to be taken after the World Health Organization ( WHO) declared the COVID-19 pandemic status.
“I need a deadline to absorb the decision that was taken worldwide”, stated the politician.
