The victory of Deiveson Figueiredo about Joseph Benavidez in the main fight of UFC Norfolk, which took place last Saturday (29), in the United States, raised a question mark regarding the continuity of the flyweight category (up to 56,7kg.). Without an official champion, the businessman Henry Cejudo, Ali Abdelaziz, stated that the former number one intends to return to the category to continue his 'reign'. The statement was made on his Twitter account.

"Henry Cejudo will defend his flyweight title after the fight against (José) Aldo”, wrote Ali.
The situation in the division became more complicated after Deiveson failed to make the weight cut, last Friday (28), in the fight that would qualify him for the fight for the vacant title in the category. After the incident, the belt could only go to Joseph Benavidez, the Brazilian's opponent, who fulfilled his commitment with the scales.
In the confrontation, the man from Pará ended up winning with a devastating knockout in the second round of combat. The situation, then, meant that the flyweight title remained vacant and ended up keeping Cejudo as 'symbolic champion', as the athlete had given up his post in December to play among the bantamweights (up to 61,2kg.), where he also is the owner of the belt.
Right after the UFC Norfolk, Henry took to social media to provoke the athletes involved in the category, suggesting that he would still be the 'king' of the group.
Before last weekend's card took place, Ultimate's president, Dana White, spared no criticism of Figueiredo, whom he called unprofessional, considering the Pará native's failure as disrespectful to the organization.
The UFC has not yet commented on what will happen to the category. There is, however, a fear that the category will once again be haunted by the possibility of being extinct, something that almost happened a few years ago, as it is a division with few athletes and lacking much prestige within the company.
Henry Cejudo is scheduled to face José Aldo in the main fight of UFC 250, which takes place on May 9, in São Paulo. This will be the North American's first title defense among bantamweights.
