Brazilian Isabela de Pádua ended up going from heaven to hell in an interval of less than six months. After being called at the last minute to present herself at the UFC Sao Paulo, in November last year, to face her compatriot Ariane Lipski, the athlete fulfilled her dream of putting on the Ultimate gloves and performing in front of her audience. However, Isabela ended up failing a test and was suspended by the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) for two years.

According to information released by USADA, traces of an anabolic steroid (nandrolone) were found in the samples collected from the Brazilian woman, which could result in an increase in the athlete's performance.
The maximum sentence applied to the Brazilian woman was also influenced by the fact that the combatant did not inform that she had ingested any prohibited metabolite. As she was not an Ultimate athlete and was scheduled to fight with just over a day left until the fight, Pádua's confession could be taken into consideration and resulted in a more lenient sentence.
With the sentence set, Isabela will now only be able to return to her activities on November 16, 2021, as the punishment is retroactive and is valid from the combatant's last performance.
Padua arrived at UFC Sao Paulo to replace Verônica Macedo, who felt unwell during the dehydration period and had to be removed from the card. In the confrontation against Lipski, Isabela managed to surprise her compatriot at times, but ended up defeated in a unanimous decision by the judges.
At 28 years old, Isabela currently has seven appearances as a professional in MMA. The Brazilian has five victories and two setbacks.
