Impeccable. Valentina Shevchenko asserted favoritism and defeated Katlyn chookagian in the co-main event of UFC 247, which took place this Saturday (8), in Houston (USA). The champion acted confidently and dominated her opponent for three rounds, until achieving the knockout. With the triumph, the fighter retained the flyweight title (under 56,7kg).
This weekend, the Kyrgyzstani entered the Octagon to defend her fourth belt. Champion since December 2018, Valentina has proven that she is one of the most complete athletes in women's MMA.
Chookagian, who entered as a big underdog, was unable to impose her strategy and ended up succumbing to the talent of number one.
In addition to the belt, Shevchenko increased the number of consecutive victories to five. The last time the Kyrgyzstani suffered a defeat was in 2017, when she was beaten by Amanda nunes in the fight for the bantamweight title (up to 61,2kg.).
The defeat to Valentina interrupted the North American's good phase, which had two consecutive victories.
The fight
The athletes started the fight studying each other in the center of the Octagon. Shevchenko took the initiative in the fight with a low kick and then a direct kick, which stopped in Katyn's guard. After many attacks, the referee interrupted the fight, declaring victory for Valentina.
