After the gala performance of Conor McGregor on January 18th, at UFC 246, when he knocked out Donald Cerrone Properly ranked as a welterweight (up to 77kg), doubts about the Irishman's future were inevitable. With the triumph, the range of possibilities for the 'Notorious' next commitment increased but, depending on the athlete's manager, Audie Attar, Conor could be seen acting more in the division dominated by Kamaru Usman. In an interview with 'MMA Fighting', the Irishman's representative spoke about the matter.

“I see my clients as human beings. I saw him (McGregor) at featherweight (up to 65,7kg.), lightweight (up to 70,3kg.) and welterweight (up to 77kg.) in MMA and he seems to be much happier at welterweight. It's not that taxing on the body when it comes to cutting weight. That doesn't mean he won't make it back to lightweight. For the featherweights, I don’t think it’s healthier,” said Audie.

For those who imagined that, after returning to the octagon after more than a year of inactivity in the sport, Conor would return to lightweight, you are wrong. According to the representative, the Irishman felt very comfortable against Cerrone and could be seen playing at welterweight in his next match.

“Fighting at lightweight is something I know he wants to do again, so it’s not completely ruled out, but you can’t rule out that he’s comfortable at welterweight. Not having an abrupt weight cut is something that makes you think”, he concluded.

After the victory over Cerrone, Conor frustrated fans' expectations when he did not launch any challenge to a possible immediate rival for his new performance. There are rumors about the Irishman's chances of facing Jorge masvidal or even return to the old division after combat between Khabib Nurmagomedov e Tony Ferguson, on April 18.
