Former heavyweight champion (up to 120,2kg.), Daniel Cormier has not yet digested the bitter defeat suffered by Stipe Miocic in the main fight of UFC 241, in August, which cost him the division belt. Without fighting since then and waiting for an opportunity to have a third fight between them, the North American once again put pressure on the champion and asked for a new battle. The athlete made the statement during UFC Raleigh, when he was working as a commentator for the event.

“Stipe and I have to fight. This is exactly what has to happen. That's what will happen. I know they said they want something new, well, I also wanted something new and I gave him the rematch,” said Daniel.
Cormier even tried to joke about the fact that Stipe works as a firefighter when he's not working for Ultimate. According to the former champion, his job is to always do the right thing and promoting the trilogy would be ideal for the moment, according to the North American.
“You're a person of honor, aren't you, Stipe? You are a firefighter. You save lives. So always do the right thing. Do the right thing and give me the rematch”, concluded DC.
Daniel and Miocic have already faced each other on two occasions. In the first, in 2018, Cormier ended up defeating the then champion by knockout in his heavyweight debut. The fighter even defended his title before having a new confrontation against his compatriot.
In August of last year, Cormier continued to dominate the fight, but ended up surprised by his opponent's quality boxing and was knocked out by Stipe. Since then, the athlete has been looking for a new opportunity to try to regain the belt.
