Celebrities react to McGregor's victory and celebrate the Irishman's return

Stars like Tom Brady and Matthew McConaughey went to Las Vegas to watch UFC 246, while others like Drake and LeBron James celebrated via social media

the return of Conor McGregor to the UFC octagon this Saturday night (18) in Las Vegas (USA), marked the return of what is considered the biggest star in the history of mixed martial arts. Thus, as expected, the presence of a great sports star caught the attention of other celebrities, who gathered to watch the event live at the T-Mobile Arena. UFC 246 or used social media to comment on the Irishman's triumph over Donald Cerrone in 40 seconds.

Among those who came to closely monitor the event in Las Vegas were: quarterback Tom Brady of the NFL's New England Patriots, considered the greatest American football player of all time and married to supermodel Brazilian Gisele Bündchen; actor Jeremy Renner, nominated twice for an Oscar and who plays the character Hawkeye in the “Avengers” films; the undefeated world boxing champion Tyson Fury, who is just weeks away from his rematch with Deontay Wilder; and award-winning actor Matthew McConaughey.

Among those who did not go to the arena, but watched the fight and spoke publicly was NBA star LeBron James. “Welcome back, champion”, wrote the number 23 of the Los Angeles Lakers. Rapper Drake published a photo of McGregor on his Instagram with the caption “Body of a god”. The speed of the knockout applied by McGregor surprised Cameroonian Joel Embiid, also from the NBA. "Wow!! That was really quick”, commented the Philadelphia 76ers forward.

Conor McGregor returned after more than 15 months away from Ultimate, with the overwhelming knockout of Donald Cerrone in the main fight of UFC 246, in addition to achieving his first victory in the Octagon since November 2016, the Irishman expanded his professional record to 22 defeats and just four defeats, also becoming the first athlete in the history of Ultimate to achieve knockout victories in three different categories.
