The former interim lightweight champion (up to 70,3kg.), Dustin poirier, remains firm in the saga of trying to find a new challenge after his last performance, when he was defeated by Khabib Nurmagomedov in dispute for the unification of the belt in his category. After challenging Conor McGregor, the North American now changed his target and called for a fight against Nate diaz. In an interview with 'MMA Fighting', 'Diamante' made the proposal official.

“Of course I would love this fight. He's a guy I've always wanted to fight. I want to fight guys that I'm excited to watch. I think it would be an incredible fight. That's why I want to face him, because I grew up watching the guy. I could face him at lightweight or welterweight. Or even a catch weight,” said Dustin.
Like Poirier, Nate is also coming off a career defeat. The 'bad boy' returned to the Octagon last year after three years of inactivity. With two fights in the year, the North American had a great confrontation against Anthony Pettis, emerging victorious and subsequently asked for a confrontation against Jorge masvidal.
